Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming Has Arrived in McKinney!
During the COVID shutdown, Shelley Howe, like so many people, became unemployed. Her husband, Jim, asked “what do you want to do when you grow up?” Pet parents to four rescue animals, Shelley and Jim have always loved dogs. Having owned Crown Hallmark stores in Michigan, it was a natural transition for Shelley and Jim to purchase the Stonebriar (Plano, TX) location of Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming.
Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming (WGB), a Florida based franchise, has 30 locations in Texas, and 184 across the United States. When you walk through the front door of any WGB store the first thing seen is the beautiful dining table with colorful treats. In the McKinney store, the birthday table, complete with party hats, iced cookies, and sprinkled donuts, caught my attention. “All birthday cakes are made every morning in the store,” shared Shelley.
The bakery features freshly baked treats made with natural ingredients and have the cutest names—Snickerpoodles, Nutty Squirrels, Paw Lickin’ Chickens, Bacon Cheddar Bones, Beef Stew Stars, and Pumpkin Pie Fire Hydrants! Shelley gave our dogs cake samples, which they promptly “woofed” down. DELICIOUS! WGB has an entire wall dedicated to a variety of bagged dog treats. All but one brand is made in the USA; the exception is made in Canada. The best selling dog treat is Chicken Chips, AKA “dog crack.”
While Shelley and Jim own the Friso and McKinney locations, it is a family business. Their son, Trevor, will be in the McKinney store every day and Madison, an elementary school teacher, works in the Plano store during school holidays. I was impressed by Trevor’s knowledge, not just of the inventory in the store, but especially of the CBD products WGB carries. CBD is not regulated by the government and Trevor is committed to knowing the quality and ingredients of not only the CBD products, but EVERY product WGB sells. We shared with Trevor that the newest addition to our family is having a challenge with potty training. We try to reward her when she is successful, but she is not food motivated. He walked right over to the wall of treats and recommended “Crunchy-Os,” a blueberry flavored treats about the size of Cheerios. “She will love these!”
In addition to dog treats, WGB sells high quality dog toys, leashes, adorable collars (my favorite had chickens on it), dog breed socks (the Goldendoodle socks are adorable!), and a variety of dog and cat food.
Need grooming? WGB can help you out. Shelley’s excitement about their dog grooming service is contagious. “Every client meets with the groomer so that we can provide personalized service” she said. Grooming services are “salon-style,” meaning, dogs are usually “in and out” in two hours instead of spending an extended amount of time in a crate. In addition, your pup’s age, size, and temperament are taken into consideration and matched with the groomer perfect for your pup. WGB grooms dogs of all sizes. From grooming specialty pups to puppies, a variety of packages are available. WGB also offers add on services such as anal gland drainage, nail grinding, teeth brushing, de-matting, and more.
